Someone once said that Paris is always a good idea! This statement sums it all up! I experienced my first trip to Paris when I was a junior in college. I decided that the best way to learn French would be to immerse myself directly into the culture by spending a semester abroad in Strasbourg, France, and what an experience! It changed my life. I still remember the University cafeteria’s other worldly charm, and the picturesque streets and canals of Strasbourg, the intricate artwork displayed in the Cathedrals, the intimate and fun nightclubs, and the kindness of the French people who smiled at us and were so understanding as I traversed my way through the culture and language.
When I arrived in Paris for the first time, all I could do was scream in excitement when I saw the majestic Eiffel Tower for the very first time while we were traveling along the Champs- Elysees. I read about the Eiffel Tower in books, and now I was experiencing it up close and personal, and I will never forget how exciting it was to be in this world-class beautiful city seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time. And, even today, I still get excited to be in Paris and to see the magnificent Tower looming above the city. The last time I was in Paris, I experienced the shimmering lights dancing up and down the Eiffel Tower every evening! It never gets old!

Being in the City of Lights during Paris Fashion Week is the icing on the cake for fashion lovers. Paris always provides its visitors with a daily dose of street fashion, but Fashion Week brings out the “best dressed” from head to toe. And, it’s not only the clothing, chic hairstyles and accessories that lets you know that you are amongst the world’s most fashionable, it’s also the attitude and confidence that causes your head to swivel a bit and say, now that is a stylish man or woman!
Fashion Week shuttles travel along streets near Dior’s residence located at 30 Avenue Montaigne advertising Paris Fashion Week which coincides with the most exquisite fashion exhibit that I have ever seen! The Dior La Galerie exhibit! It started off our week in Paris during Haute Couture Fashion Week! Each room of the exhibit was tantamount to opening a series of Tiffany jewelry gift boxes with each piece more stunningly beautiful than the last! It was truly a gift and a feast for the eyes. And, if that wasn’t enough, visitors get a chance to see the design process up close and personal as seamstresses in their white coats from the actual Dior atelier are on hand making patterns and answering questions in a replica of the workroom. If you are in Paris between now and May 2025, don’t miss it.
Paris is the world’s fashion capital, so one can spend days visiting the top fashion museums and luxury designer installations. During Paris Fashion Week 2023, we also visited the Musee’ Yves Saint Laurent at the home of the designer, the Louis Vuitton Dream exhibit celebrating its 160 year anniversary featuring a gigantic statute of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama holding a paint brush dotting the LV headquarters with colorful polka dots. This was an absolutely stunning display of fashion and art. She is also carrying a matching LV handbag for the occasion!
